AlpineWeb has recently added PHP 5.3 and PHP 5.4 to the Signature Hosting platforms. As of November 1, 2013, AlpineWeb will no longer support older versions of PHP. Versions older than PHP 5.3 will no longer be available on the server for utilization.
What does this mean? If you are a PHP user, you must update your code and select PHP 5.3 or 5.4 in your control panel by October 1st, otherwise, your site will no longer function properly.
Prior to November 1st you have the ability to toggle between the older and newer versions of PHP in order to make any code adjustments that may be necessary in order to accommodate PHP 5.3 or 5.4.
To view and understand the differences in the latest PHP versions, go to: http://php.net/manual/en/migration54.changes.php
To allow sufficient time for your code update, we recommend that you start this process as soon as possible.
The advantage of the new PHP versions:
As always, AlpineWeb is committed to providing you a secure and stable platform. These new PHP versions eliminate serious security vulnerabilities associated with PHP versions older than 5.3 so you can be assured that your new version of PHP is safe and secure.
If you have any questions about the PHP changes, please contact customer support at (603) 356-8797. Please utilize the resources found at the PHP website, as AlpineWeb support is unable to provide scripting assistance.
