Server Software Update Notification: Update for 10-29-2013

This notice describes changes associated with the latest Signature code release. The release dates, times, or contents may change pending final approval.

Important Item: Removal of old PHP versions

Signature Hosting

Possible Action Needed:

Removed all PHP Versions Older than PHP 5.3

Previously, PHP versions 4.x and 5.2.x were available to customers through the use of a drop-down menu.

Now, we are reverting to a one-button toggle only between PHP 5.3 and PHP 5.4. PHP 5.4 will become the default for existing sites. Customer websites which aren’t compatible with PHP 5.4 may not function properly.

Action: All customers using PHP for their website should convert their website to run PHP 5.3 or 5.4. They must make sure they will function after this upgrade has been completed. Important: 4.x and 5.2x will be removed as an option for customers to use. Customers on prior 4.x and 5.2x versions will be updated to use PHP 5.4.

 

Upgraded phpMyAdmin

Description: Previously, when PHP 5.3 is selected the phpMyAdmin interface throws php errors, but it still works. phpMyAdmin does not work for PHP 5.4 at all. phpMyAdmin was version 2.11.10

Now, phpMyAdmin is being upgraded to version 4.0.5.

Impacted Components: phpMyAdmin, PHP

Customer Impact: The current supported versions of PHP 5.3 and 5.4 will now work with the upgraded version of phpMyAdmin. Any customer who has an explicit dependency on old versions of phpMyAdmin will be impacted.

Added additional Perl version

Description: Previously, we supported Perl 5.8.x

Now, we are adding support for the following version of Perl: 5.18

Impacted Components: Perl
Customer Impact: Low impact as existing version will not change, it just makes the newer version available for use.

 

ClamAV Upgrade

Description: Previously, ClamAV was running Version 0.96.

Now, the latest version is 0.97.7, labeled as a stable release as of 18 March. http://www.clamav.net/lang/en/
