The Domain Name Registrar Enom was acquired by Tucows in January 2017. For the past ten years Enom was a reliable partner that allowed AlpineWeb to provide reliable Domain Name Registration services and pricing to our customers.
In May 2018 with little warning or time to prepare, Enom abruptly dramatically raised its pricing. Over the course of the next several months the reliable and consistent service level we had experienced from Enom deteriorated to an unacceptable level.
Due to these changes AlpineWeb began looking for a new Domain Name Registrar to partner with. After a thorough evaluation process we established a new relationship with Hexonet. Our new partnership with Hexonet will allow AlpineWeb to continue proving the same reliable Domain Name Registration services and maintain the competitive pricing structure we have been proving for more than twenty years.
For the most part AlpineWeb customers will experience a seamless transition. Customers will experience no interrupion in service and the same tools and controls available to them will remain in place. This includes registration, renewals, updating contact information and more through the AlpineWeb Customer Backroom.
Pricing
For the most popular TLDs (Top Level Domains) AlpineWeb has had very few pricing increases since the company was founded in 1997. .com domains have remained at $20.00 per year for new registrations, renewals and transfers. The rate for .net and .org increased by $2.00 to $22.00 per year for new registrations, renewals and transfers mostly due to increases by the owner of the .com TLD VeriSign.
Renewals
For Customers who have registered or transferred their Domain Names to AlpineWeb there will be an additional step during the renewal process. When renewing a domain name AlpineWeb will be performing an IRTP (Inter-Registrar Transfer Process). During this process the Domain Name Registration Owner or Registrant will receive an email verification message they will be required to respond to. The Email Verification process is a simple process requiring nothing more than responding to the message by clicking on a link to verify that their Domain Name Registration Contact Information is correct.
