As PHP releases new versions, older versions reach a point in time when they are no longer supported, updated and patched for bugs and security issues.  In other words, it is the point in time when the software version has reached the end of its useful life cycle. This point in time is referred to as End Of Life or EOL.

PHP 7.2 will continue to receive security updates until its EOL on 11-30-2020 about nine months from now.  See the following document for more information:

Important Note:

AlpineWeb cannot automatically upgrade a customers PHP version as it could cause a web site not to function. Before the PHP version is upgraded it is prudent to make sure your web site software is up to date and ready for the PHP version you are upgrading to.

We encourage all customers to upgrade to PHP 7.3.

How to Upgrade

Alpine Hosting customers can switch to PHP 7.3 in their cPanel accounts using the MultiPHP Manager:

your-domainname.com/cpanel

Once logged in navigate to:

Software > MultiPHP Manager

Select the domain(s) you would like to upgrade to PHP 7.3 from the dropdown menu and click Apply.

Additional Information

PHP 7.4 is expected to become available on Alpine Hosting in November 2020.
